Description of our Offshore Training
Our offshore helicopter training program is a comprehensive and intensive course designed to equip aspiring pilots with the knowledge, skills, and expertise required to fly helicopters safely and effectively in the challenging offshore oil and gas industry. Our program combines theoretical instruction and practical flight training, aircraft systems, emergency procedures, and safety protocols specific to offshore operations. Trainees receive hands-on instruction from experienced instructors, practicing takeoffs and landings on offshore platforms, low-level flight techniques, instrument flying, and emergency procedures. Our state-of-the-art Bell222 flight simulator offers simulated training that provides a realistic environment for practicing a wide range of scenarios encountered in offshore operations. Additionally, our simulator enables Multi-Crew Cooperation (MCC) training and training in multi-engine class and type helicopters, which are commonly used in the offshore industry.
The South African minimum requirements for an Offshore Training
•18 Years or older •PPL(H) ( and is part of your CPL(H) training) •Fluent in English (Speak, read, write, and understand) and pass the English Proficiency Examination •A Class I or II Aviation Medical. oWe will assist you with booking your Aviation Medical appointment.
Ground School Subjects: approx. 5hours
•Complete 5 hours of Ground School.
Our Preferred Helicopters for your Offshore Training
The industry standard for offshore is any multi-engine and preferably performance class 1. Typically, the AW139 will be used. However, the Bell222 helicopter is very good steppingstone into this industry. We, therefor, utilize our unique Bell 222 simulator and prefer our fleet of Bell 222 Helicopters. The Bell 222 was the first light commercial twin-turbine helicopter developed in the United States. The Bell 222 incorporated several advanced features including dual hydraulic and electrical systems, sponsons housing the retractable landing gear, and the Noda Matic vibration reduction system. The Bell 222 performs well at high density altitudes which makes it an ideal platform for offshore training which will be conducted at Rand Airport.
Pass Requirements for your Offshore Training
A pass mark of at least 75% is required for all your examinations.
